We are part of Digital Selling within IKEA and setting up a whole new Orchestration layer for Checkout-as-a-Service (CaaS) which will be consumed by all IKEA channels in the end to provide Omni-channel checkout experience for our customers. YOUR SKILLS INCLUDE
  • Background in Computer Science or Software Engineering.
  • Extensive knowledge of Java (8+ years) and/or Kotlin (2+ years)
  • Substantial knowledge and experience with Kafka, Solace, or any other event-driven technologies
  • Strong understanding of microservices and cloud native technology, and you have experience with designing and creating the architecture of new platforms from scratch
  • Experience being part of DevOps team, working closely with multiple product teams

PS. We’re looking for people with skills in backend if you happen to be well versed in both frontend and backend – even better!

If you’re interested – our current tech stack in backend is written primarily in Golang and Java (hosted on GCP, on GKE using Cloud Spanner as primary storage, IAC by Terraform). We can tell you more in our initial conversation.

Another thing to mention here is, we work very much in hybrid mode as the team members are in different locations and this model was adapted during Covid. But now with changing situations, you might have to travel occasionally to Sweden for workshops, trainings or team building activities.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
As Senior Software Engineer your main responsibilities will include:
  • Building software that meets IKEAs high standards, this includes quality, performance, security
  • Setting up and maintain our cloud environments
  • Contribute to all aspects of the product lifecycle, with a focus on engineering
  • Help maintain and improve our integration and delivery pipeline
  • Support, coach, and guide team members in your areas of expertise
  • Explore and apply new technologies suitable for our product
  • Take responsibility for the product, all the way from idea to runtime, this includes on call duties

We drive the development, provision and operation of our digital products and services through the use of new and existing technology and agile delivery methods to deliver at pace.
